Balancing his modernist bonafides and a regard for classic furniture, Danish designer Ole Wanscher unveiled Colonial Chair in 1959. Striving for timelessness and favoring slender dimensions, his seating is a marvel of stability with its bracingly curved wood armrests that rise to a point before turning downward and back legs that flare steadily outward. In a range of finishes, the slim solid walnut or oak framework adds plush cushioning in cold foam and down with a choice of fine fabric or leather upholstery.
