Karimoku Furniture traces to 1940, when founder Shohei Kato opened a woodworking shop in Aichi Prefecture. By the early 1960s the company had turned to making Western-style furniture for the Japanese domestic market. When designer Kenmei Nagaoka launched the 60VISION project in 2002, Karimoku was the first to join, and the Karimoku 60 collection was born — not a reissue program, but a continuous line, the same furniture kept in production. This dining table belongs to that lineage: beech frame, sliced veneer top, cylindrical legs with softly rounded corners, proportions low and unhurried at just under 27.6 inches tall. The largest size runs nearly 71 inches wide. Three finishes — Mocha Brown, Walnut, and Pure Beech — each reading differently against the same beech grain beneath.
