In this version, Gubi’s much-lauded 3D combines an innovative shell seat with a stackable metal sledge base. Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design first devised the seating with the breakthrough technique of molding 3-dimensional wood veneer and then extended it to a HiRek plastic version. The thickness of the laminated veneer is half that normally used, allowing for a fluid and exceedingly comfortable chair with rounded edges that point away from the user—and welcome in residential and contract settings alike.
