Bodil Kjær’s solid wood dining table displays a pleasing equation of right angles, a telling motif repeated through the legs and the ends of the tabletop. A pioneering woman in Danish design, Bodil brought her keen architect’s eye to Principal and its related side chair (also at A+R) in the circa-1961 series. Beautifully crafted in several versions of solid oak or in walnut, with a veneer surface and matte-lacquer finish, the table from Copenhagen’s Karakter remains as relevant today as it was at its midcentury debut.
