DZ05 Coat Rack

Friso Kramer held one principle above everything else: form without function has no right to exist. The DZ05 coat rack, designed for 't Spectrum — the Dutch modernist accessories maker — in 1954, is that principle made literal. Powder-coated steel bent into seven hooks and a hat shelf, spanning just under three feet of wall. Enough for coats, bags, and whatever lands at the door. Pastoe reissued it in black and a sharp, committed yellow. It's the kind of thing that handles the entry hall without making a fuss about it — until you notice the yellow one from across the room.
