Tangled Cabinet

Spectrum, the Dutch modernist furniture maker founded in 1941 and now brought into the Pastoe family, has always demanded that construction be the visible argument. Carolina Wilcke's 2015 Tangled Cabinet fits that lineage without apology: two powder-coated steel volumes built from industrial window-frame profiles, interlocked into a cabinet nearly five and a half feet wide and just over three feet tall. Clear glass on four levels. Brass screws on the taupe, black on the black. The goldsmith's precision, carried into furniture at real scale.
