Description
Each one unique in its sculptural form, Pierced Light explores the paradox of time-honored craft recast in a modernist idiom. The irreverent minds behind Toronto-based Castor Design posit the table lamp as a hand-blown glass body seemingly spiked by a steel rod with an internal LED light source. As a design that plays up process, the irregular form derives from molten glass that is rolled and inflated and then pierced on an angle as it solidifies. The sand-blasted glass diffuses light, while the metal rod (with unobtrusive on/off button) comes in copper, chrome or gold.
