Description
The Lobby Chair traces to 1968 — a moment when Karimoku, Japan's largest wooden furniture manufacturer, was making Western-style seating for the domestic market and supplying it as contract furniture to inns and hospitals. When designer Kenmei Nagaoka launched the 60VISION project in 2002, Karimoku was the first company to join, and the Lobby Chair entered the revived Karimoku 60 collection alongside it. This two-seater carries updated upholstery and improved cushioning over the original, but the bones are unchanged: a dark walnut frame, low and wide, built for the brand's stated purpose — furniture that stays with you for decades rather than rotating out.
