Made By Hand's philosophy of understated luxury gives rise to this eloquently self-effacing coat stand with a subtle Japanese influence. The Copenhagen brand along with the design team at Studio 0405 (aka brothers Nikolaj and Mathias Mentze) emphasizes subtle lines and fine joinery in the solid wood piece to impart a sense of marvelous tactility and unforced ease. "Materiality is a big focus right now," say the designers. "What the internet lacks is tactility and materiality" adding to the new preference for rich materials. And the subtle brass detailing actually brings a functional, stabilizing attribute to the stand, available in a pair of sizes and a choice of natural ash or oak.

Living up to its name, this young Danish design brand debuted at the Stockholm Furniture Fair with just a single product. “After almost a year of preparation, we relaunched the classic Danish workshop lamp from 1951, remade by hand by the original skilled craftsmen—with their techniques from the 1950s—in the original workshop in Denmark,” says Thomas Baldur-Felskov, cofounder and partner.
