Description
First produced in 1968, the Lobby Chair arrived at a particular moment — Japan was furnishing its public spaces in a Western idiom, and Karimoku was one of the makers supplying the rooms. Contract furniture for inns and reception areas, built to take daily use without argument. When Kenmei Nagaoka launched the 60VISION project in 2002 — a cross-industry effort to revive products representing Japanese companies' origins — Karimoku was the first company to participate, and the Lobby Chair came with it into the collection. The Karimoku 60 version carries updated upholstery and a seat deepened by about an inch over the original. The proportions remain compact and the intent unchanged.
