Benno Mirror

Description

Benno Premsela was a defining voice in postwar Dutch design — a minimalist whose instinct was always to do less. The mirror that carries his name, designed in 1956 for Spectrum (the Dutch modernist furniture maker now folded into Pastoe), is the proof. He found a wooden ring already in Spectrum's stock, cut a slot in the top, slid a square glass through it, and called the design finished. Nearly seventy years on, that restraint still reads as authority.
